Shoulder Joint Pain Relief

The shoulder is one of the most used parts of your body. You use it every time you lift your arms, turn in any direction and consequently, any time you do anything with your back, your shoulders are effected because of the connection between the two. Shoulder pain is unbearable when it comes along, something that a tube of muscle numbing rub can’t always fix.

These tendons are very strong yet fragile pieces of muscle that have to go over a bony fragment of your shoulder in order to work properly. If there is any change in the shoulder bone, than you can easily suffer pain from the friction caused in the area. When your tendons become trapped under the arch of your bone, that is when they become inflamed. This happens because the tendons are stretching even farther in a small space, becoming irritated by rubbing on the other tendons. This is called rotator cuff tendinitis, a very painful illness.

If you are at home, you can provide yourself some shoulder joint pain relief by applying ice for fifteen minutes than applying heat for fifteen minutes. Repeat this process for several hours if possible. Always make sure that you wrap your ice pack in a cloth, you should never apply it directly to the skin. Rest your shoulder from any kind of strenuous activity for the next few days so that you are not agitating the tendons. Don’t lift anything heavy or do any strenuous sports like baseball or football. If you have small children, this is especially hard because they most often liked to be picked up and held. Try to refrain from this as much as possible. The addition of Tylenol or Ibuprofen can help to reduce the swelling and make it a little more comfortable while you heal.

You should go to the emergency room if you feel a sudden pain in your shoulder, especially if it is in other places in your body such as your chest, jaw, or neck, these are signs of a heart attack. If your shoulder is badly bruised, bleeding, or swollen you should have it looked at by a medical professional.
